#StarOfTheWeek 3 – Aayush Pandya (Higher Diploma in Computer Science)

Aayush Pandya is a man who has lived in 3 countries and still has a thirst for exploring new cultures. Currently a student in FTMSGlobal’s Computer Science course, he intends to stamp his mark as a programmer.

“My life belongs in the East. I grew up in a city that is Eastern part of my state in India, then when I moved to England, I lived in the Eastern part of London and now in Singapore, I live in Tanjong Katong which also happens to be in the East.”

Born in Gujarat, India, he moved to East London, United Kingdom when he was 11 and now, he’s been in Singapore for about half a year. One of his biggest struggles is finding vegetarian food here so therefore, he cooks his own food.

“One thing I love about Singapore is the weather, it’s sunny all year round whereas in England, it’s showers, cloudy, showers and snow…the weather there makes you lose your mood to do anything.”

“One difference I’ve noticed between Singapore and London is that in London, if you happen to be lost, you can just find a random old guy sitting nearby and ask him for directions and he will walk with you right to the doorstep of your destination, I’ve yet to encounter that in Singapore so far. All those things they say about Indians getting treated badly by the locals in England is not true. I’ve never encountered any form of racism in England, at least not at the place I was staying at.”

#StarOfTheWeek 2 – Zoljargal Sukhbat (ACCA)

Zoljargal, a curious and intelligent young lady from Ulanbaataar, Mongolia has been in Singapore for about 19 months already. An ACCA student in her final year, she aspires to work in the finance industry back home in Mongolia after graduation.

If she’s walking down the street one day and comes across a weird contraption with dials and knobs all over and discovers that it’s a functioning time-machine with enough battery for only one round trip she’d go back to Ulanbaataar in 1985.

“There is a big difference in population in Mongolia in the 1980s as compared to now, the population was only half the size, (right now it’s about 3 Million) and it was run by a Socialist Government so there was no such thing as the rich or poor, almost everyone was equal. More importantly, I would want to meet my parents who would, during that time, still be in their 20’s and see how life was like for them back then. The food was also supposedly better as the cooking was more Russian-style. There were very few buildings with plenty of open spaces which made it very relaxing.”

She also finds it a little annoying that many people don’t realize that Mongolia is a country on its own.

“Inner Mongolia is a province in China but there is also Outer Mongolia which is very different. When I meet Singaporeans and tell them I’m from Mongolia, 8 out of 10 of them will say, “Oh, is that in China?”. It’s very annoying, Mongolia is Mongolia and China is China!”

Frederick Wong Frederick Wong

A resident of Taman Perling in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, Frederick spent a significant portion of his life shuttling between his home in Johor Bahru and Singapore for school. Having gone through Primary and Secondary Schools as well as Junior College, he decided to pursue his passion for programming by joining FTMSGlobal Academy to study Computer Science. He is currently in his Higher Diploma year.

Besides Hockey, he’s also an avid Parkour Enthusiast who used to haunt the streets with his friends with gravity-defying stunts. Though not as active these days, he still finds a way to manage his time and this is something that Frederick is proud of.

Frederick also intends to travel the World and explore new cultures and lead a life of adventure, something that would allow him to better understand this World.
